World AIDS Day

So December 1st is world Aids day. I thought I'd take a minute to think about this and pass something onto you all.

UNAIDS estimates that as of December 2000, there were an estimated 36.1 million people living with HIV/AIDS (34.7 million adults and 1.4 million children under 15). Since the epidemic began, an estimated 21.8 million people have died of AIDS (17.5 million adults and 4.3 million children under 15). (http://www.aids.org)

This is a staggering amount of people and I can only guess that the real number is far greater than the estimate. Everybody knows that something needs to be done. I have no answers, but there are many many organisations doing amazing work all around the world. Support for sufferers continues to get better day by day but there is still a long way to go.

So along with many other terminal diseases, I can only hope that a cure will one day, be found.

Please, once you have read this post, take a moment to think about these adults, children and families all around he world.

Thank you
